Notification Log
See the notifications that arrive on your child’s Android phone — the app, the time, and the message text a notification shows — kept for 60 days so you can review the context before you talk.
Android · Parent app on Google Play · Child app installs directly

Kept for
60 days
When you would use it
Moments it is for
Read once, then deleted.
The message that worries a child is often cleared in a second. The log keeps what their phone showed.
A name you have not heard before.
A new contact in a message alert is worth a question at dinner, asked calmly.
Something specific to ask about.
“Who is Sam?” is a conversation. “Is everything okay online?” is a shrug.
What it does
Inside Notification Log
What arrives, in order
Each notification the phone shows — app, time, and the text in the notification — newest first.
The app it came from
So you can tell a game alert from a message.
Sixty days
Long enough to look back, then deleted automatically.
The message that usually comes first
The alert that worries a child is often read once and cleared. This keeps it.
As it appeared — The notification the way their phone showed it — app, title and preview text.
Newest first — The last hour is the top of the list, grouped by day.
Nothing to catch in time — You don’t have to be looking at the right moment.
On their phone, 12:56
New message
You don’t belong here
Read once, then swiped away.
New message
You don’t belong here
Your streak is waiting
Keep your 12-day streak alive
Homework due tomorrow
Maths worksheet 4, due 9:00 AM
Kept for 60 days, newest first.
What it shows, said plainly
FlashDroid sees the notification a phone displays. It does not open the app behind it.
The notification’s own text — The title and preview a message shows when it lands — not older messages, not the full thread.
Not their chat history — FlashDroid doesn’t open apps or scroll back through conversations.
Not what they type — There is no keyboard logging anywhere in FlashDroid.
Recorded
Not recorded
A permission you switch on yourself
Android keeps this behind its own settings screen, and it should.
Granted deliberately — It takes a trip into Android settings — nobody turns this on by accident.
Off unless you want it — Skip it and the rest of FlashDroid works exactly as before.

Why it helps
What Notification Log is really for
- You see it earlyThe first sign of trouble is often a message, and it is usually seen and then deleted.
- A reason to talkSomething specific to ask about beats a general worry neither of you can name.
- Clear about its scopeIt shows what a notification displays — the app, the time, the preview — not your child’s whole chat history.
Plainly
What the Notification Log doesn’t do
The clearest way to describe it is by what it can’t reach.
- It doesn’t open their appsFlashDroid only sees what appears as a notification. Old chats stay where they are.
- It doesn’t read what they typeThere is no keyboard logging in FlashDroid, anywhere.
- It skips music and mediaPlayer and transport notifications are not logged, so the list stays about messages.
- Sixty days, then goneNotifications are deleted automatically after 60 days. This is not a permanent archive of their friendships.

Questions
Notification Log — the questions parents ask
Does my child know FlashDroid is there?+
Yes. FlashDroid is visible on their phone under its own name and consent is recorded at pairing — it isn’t a hidden or secret tool.
Does this let me read their messages?+
It shows you the notifications their phone displays, which for a messaging app usually includes a preview of the message — its title and text. It does not open apps or read old chats; only what appears as a notification.
Can it recover deleted messages?+
It may keep a notification that was already captured before it was dismissed, within the 60-day window. That is different from recovering a message that never produced a notification.
Does FlashDroid record what they type?+
No. There is no keyboard logging anywhere in FlashDroid.
How long is it kept?+
Sixty days, then it is deleted automatically. Music and media-player notifications are not logged at all.
Do I have to turn this on?+
No. Android keeps it behind its own permission screen, and the rest of FlashDroid works exactly the same without it.
How is this different from Parent Alerts?+
Notification Log shows the notifications received on your child’s phone from their own apps. Parent Alerts sends updates about FlashDroid events, such as reached limits and extra-time requests.
Does this work on iPhone?+
Not yet. FlashDroid is Android only today, both the parent app and the child app.
How do I know if my child is being bullied online?+
Often the first sign is a message that upsets them and is deleted straight away. The Notification Log keeps what their phone showed, so you have something specific to ask about. Ask calmly rather than accusingly.
