App Blocker

Choose which apps your child can use on their Android phone, set limits on the ones that need them, and schedule breaks for study or family time.

Homework mode

On until 5 PM

When you would use it

Moments it is for

  • Homework comes first.

Limit games and social apps during study time, then switch it back after.

  • An app is not suitable.

Block an app you would rather they did not use, and talk about why.

  • School tools are still needed.

Mark the learning apps and the call home as always-allowed, so no rule closes them.

What it does

Inside App Blocker

  • One simple choice

Allow, limit, or block — per app.

  • Always-allowed

Mark the apps that must stay open no matter what.

  • Set from your phone

Choose a rule and it syncs to their device.

Choose a rule for each app

Allow it, give it a daily limit, or block it. Not a fight about the whole phone.

  • A limit that fits — An hour of a game and unlimited music, if that is what you want.

  • Always-allowed — Mark the ones they truly need so a block never reaches them.

  • Calls stay reachable — They can always get hold of you, whatever else is paused.

Always allow

The school app and the call home. No rule reaches them.

Limit

An hour and a half of the game, and it stops there.

Block

It simply does not open. Nothing else changes.

Schedule app access around the day

Homework time doesn’t have to look like Saturday morning.

  • Group it into a mode — Gather the rules for a situation and turn them on when it starts.

  • Or by the clock — A window in the afternoon that closes the distractions on its own.

  • Back to normal after — Nothing needs undoing when the hour passes.

Rules for a situation

Gather them once, then turn them on when it starts.

And it ends on its own

The countdown runs out and the usual rules come back.

The phone applies the rule, not you

Set it from your phone and it syncs to theirs. The rule is then between them and the phone.

  • It syncs to their device — A change reaches their phone in seconds when it is connected, and catches up when it comes back online.

  • Kind on their side — A blocked app says it is not available right now, rather than accusing anyone.

  • Change your mind freely — Loosen or tighten it whenever; nothing is permanent.

Why it helps

What App Blocker is really for

  • One clear choice per appAllow it, cap it, or block it — without an all-or-nothing fight over the whole phone.
  • Keep the essentials openMark the apps they truly need as always-allowed. Calls stay reachable even when everything else is paused.
  • Nothing is permanentLoosen or tighten a rule as they grow; change your mind whenever you need to.
  • Less policingOnce it is set, the phone applies the rule — not you, over their shoulder.

Plainly

What App Blocker doesn’t do

So the rules feel like an agreement rather than a trap.

  • It doesn’t cut them offCalls stay available even when everything else is paused.
  • It isn’t an instant kill switchA rule is a change that syncs to their phone — near-instant when it is connected, and applied as soon as it reconnects if it was offline.
  • It doesn’t look inside appsFlashDroid decides whether an app opens. It never reads what happens in it.

Questions

App Blocker — the questions parents ask

Does my child know FlashDroid is there?+

Yes. FlashDroid is visible on their phone under its own name and consent is recorded at pairing — it isn’t a hidden or secret tool.

Can my child get around a blocked app?+

The rule is applied on their phone, not just requested from yours. No filter is impossible to bypass, so you can also mark the apps that must stay open no matter what, and keep an eye on App Activity.

What does my child see when they open a blocked app?+

A plain screen from FlashDroid Kid saying the app is not available right now, with a button to ask you for time. No accusation, no countdown of what they did wrong.

Does a block stop calls?+

No. Calls stay available whatever else is paused. That is built in, not a setting you have to remember.

Can I close several apps at once for homework time?+

Yes. A mode groups the rules for a situation, such as Homework, and you switch it on when the hour starts. When it ends, the usual rules come back on their own.

Does blocking an app delete it?+

No. Blocking access and uninstalling are different actions — App Blocker decides whether an app opens, and does not remove the app or its data.

Does this work on iPhone?+

Not yet. FlashDroid is Android only today, both the parent app and the child app.

Should I block social media for my child?+

That is your call, and it can change with age. Rather than a blanket ban, many parents set a daily limit on the apps that tend to take over and leave the rest alone. App Blocker lets you do either — a limit, a block, or always-allowed, per app.
