Screen Time

Set a daily screen-time limit on your child’s Android phone, plan phone breaks for study and bedtime, and review requests for extra time — all from your phone.

When you would use it

Moments it is for

  • A more consistent bedtime.

Schedule quiet hours before bed, so the rule doesn’t depend on another reminder from you.

  • Time for homework.

Set a study schedule and keep the learning apps you choose available while it runs.

  • Getting ready for school.

Schedule a phone break while your child gets dressed, eats breakfast and prepares for the day.

What it does

Inside Screen Time

  • A daily limit

Set the day’s total. Near the end a short wind-down warns them, then the non-essential apps pause.

  • Per-app limits and schedules

Cap individual apps, and set bedtime and study hours that can differ by day of the week.

  • They ask, you decide

Your child can request more time; you answer from your phone, and extra time tops up the day.

Set a daily limit you can adjust

Choose how much screen time is available each day, and change it when your family’s plans change.

  • A short wind-down — Near the end, a quiet countdown warns them, so the stop is never a surprise mid-game.

  • Then it pauses — When the time is used up, the non-essential apps pause until tomorrow or until you allow more.

  • Calls still work — Calls stay available whatever else is paused, so they can always reach you.

Plan breaks for study and bedtime

Create schedules for the parts of the day you want fewer phone distractions, then let FlashDroid keep them.

  • Every night — The same quiet hours without you having to remember them.

  • Different days, different rules — A school night and a Saturday do not have to look the same.

  • Still reachable — Quiet hours pause the apps, not calls.

Review requests for extra time

When your child needs more time, the request arrives on your phone and you decide.

  • They ask properly — A request in the app instead of a negotiation at the kitchen table.

  • You decide — Approve or decline from wherever you are — no need to be in the room.

  • It adds to the day — Extra time tops up the limit rather than switching it off.

Why it helps

What Screen Time is really for

  • A limit that runs itselfSet the day’s time together, then let FlashDroid apply it — you’re not the one enforcing it in the moment.
  • You still decideThey can ask for more time; you approve or decline from your phone, wherever you are.
  • Calls always get throughCalls stay available during the daily limit and at bedtime, so they can always reach you.
  • A steadier routineDaily limits and schedules help the day find its shape, without a reminder from you each time.

Plainly

What Screen Time doesn’t do

So you can tell your child exactly what they are agreeing to.

  • It isn’t a punishment buttonThe limit is a number you both agreed on, running quietly in the background.
  • It doesn’t read anythingScreen Time counts how long apps are open. It never looks inside them.
  • Calls remain availableCalls stay available whatever else is paused. That is built in, not a setting you have to remember.

Questions

Screen Time — the questions parents ask

Does my child know FlashDroid is there?+

Yes. FlashDroid is visible on their phone under its own name and consent is recorded at pairing — it isn’t a hidden or secret tool.

What happens when the daily limit runs out?+

Near the end a short wind-down warns your child, then the non-essential apps pause. They can send a request for more time, and you decide from your phone. Calls stay available throughout.

Can they still call me when the time is up?+

Yes. Calls stay available whatever else is paused, during the daily limit and during bedtime. That is built in, not a setting you have to remember.

Can I give games a shorter limit than homework apps?+

Yes. Alongside the day’s total you can set a limit per app, and mark the apps that should always stay open, such as homework or the bus timetable.

Can I set different routines for school days and weekends?+

Yes. Bedtime and study schedules can differ by day of the week, so a school night and a Saturday do not have to look the same.

Can my child change the limit from their phone?+

No. The limits are set from your FlashDroid app. On their phone, FlashDroid Kid shows the wind-down warning and the pause when a limit is reached, and lets them send you a request for more time.

What is the difference between Screen Time and App Blocker?+

Screen Time manages the daily total, bedtime and study schedules. App Blocker sets a rule for each individual app — allow it, limit it, or block it. Many families use both together.

Does this work on iPhone?+

Not yet. FlashDroid is Android only today, both the parent app and the child app.

Download the parent app, pair your child’s phone and choose the protections your family needs.
