Qustodio Alternatives (2026): 7 Options Compared Fairly

FlashDroid Team7 min read

FlashDroid is our product. Every claim about another company links to that company's own page, checked on 4 November 2026. Plans and prices change, so check their site before you buy.

Our verdict: for an Android child, choose FlashDroid. One app gives you per-app limits, an instant lock, a web filter on the phone, places alerts, Safety check alerts and live check-ins with a notice on the child's phone.

Choose another app if one of these is your family:

  • Choose Google Family Link if basic supervision from Google is all you need.
  • Choose Bark if alerts about texts, social media and email matter most.
  • Choose FamiSafe or AirDroid Parental Control if you also need Windows or iPhone apps.
  • Choose Kids360 if your child should earn extra time with tasks.
  • Choose KidMoat if you want a habit-first app built around coins, streaks and real-world rewards. Both apps are made by Zynaty.
  • Keep Qustodio if your children also use Windows, Mac, Chromebook or Kindle.

Where Qustodio is better

Be fair to Qustodio before you leave it:

  • More platforms. Qustodio's features page lists Android, iPhone and iPad, Windows, Mac, Chromebook and Kindle. No other app on this page covers that many.
  • A free version. Qustodio's premium page says the free version protects a single device with basic features.
  • Social media alerts. Qustodio lists WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and X chat alerts on Android.
  • Computers and games. Qustodio lists gaming alerts on Windows. FlashDroid has no computer app.

If your children use computers as much as phones, keep Qustodio. For an Android child, FlashDroid is our pick. Read our longer FlashDroid vs Qustodio comparison.

FlashDroid (our product, our pick)

FlashDroid is for Android families who need more than limits. It is the alternative we recommend for an Android child.

  • Per-app limits, app blocking, bedtime, modes and an instant lock
  • A web filter on the phone, by category
  • Location, safe places and arrival alerts
  • Live screen, live camera and surrounding sound check-ins. The child's phone shows a notice the whole time a live view is open. Live views are streamed, not recorded.
  • Tamper and phone-offline warnings
  • Block Reels and Shorts in Instagram, YouTube, the Facebook phone app and Snapchat, with the rest of each app still working
  • Safe Search for Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo, and YouTube Restricted Mode, on the child's phone
  • Activity logs: what your child watched and searched on YouTube, and who they chat with — never what the messages say
  • Safety check: alerts about signs of self-harm, bullying and grooming — with a short part of the message, never the full chat. See Privacy, section 9B for what it reads
  • An SOS button: your phone rings loud until you answer, and you see where your child is and hear the sound around them

Limits: Android only. The child app, FlashDroid Kid, installs with our guided installer, not from Google Play. Live views use credits from the plan. Block Reels, Safe Search, activity logs, Safety check and SOS are on paid plans and the free trial (Safety check covers one app during the trial).

Get FlashDroid on Google Play

Google's Family Link page lists screen-time limits, schedules, app approvals, website restrictions, SafeSearch for Google Search and location. Google's help page says supervision needs an Android device (6.0+) or a Chromebook, and that iPhones and iPads "can't be supervised with Family Link".

Fits: families who already use Google accounts and want basic supervision. Read Google Family Link alternatives.

Bark

Bark's help centre describes monitoring of texts, social media and email, with alerts to parents, as its specialty. It also lists screen-time schedules, app and site blocking, and location. On iPhone, Bark says monitoring needs a home computer or the Bark Home device. Read FlashDroid vs Bark.

FamiSafe

FamiSafe's home page lists screen-time limits and schedules, app rules, location with geofencing alerts, a web filter, "Inappropriate Pictures" alerts, YouTube controls and a Screen Viewer. It links a Windows download, a Chromebook guide and a Chrome extension. The yearly plan was shown at $59.9 a year. Read FlashDroid vs FamiSafe.

AirDroid Parental Control

AirDroid's pricing page shows a 1-year plan at $59.99 for 10 devices. It lists screen mirroring (Android only), "Monitor Surroundings" (Android only), location with route history, geofencing, an app blocker and notification syncing (Android only). Read FlashDroid vs AirDroid Parental Control.

Kids360

Kids360's App Store listing describes daily limits and schedules, app blocking, GPS location and a "loud signal" to the child's phone. Children can complete tasks set by parents to earn extra screen time. The listing says app usage statistics, GPS location and daily time limits are free; a subscription adds automatic app blocking and schedules. The child installs a companion app, Alli360. Read FlashDroid vs Kids360.

KidMoat

KidMoat gives the child coins for each day under the limit, streaks and real-world rewards. It has no live views. Android only.

How to choose

  1. List the devices your children use. An Android child points to FlashDroid; computers or iPhones in the mix point to Qustodio, Bark, FamiSafe or AirDroid.
  2. Name the one problem you want to fix: time, websites, places, or what happens on the screen.
  3. Use the free trial or free version where the company offers one, for one full school week.
  4. Tell your child what the app does before you install it.

Bottom line: for an Android child, FlashDroid is our pick — limits, a web filter, places alerts, Safety check and live check-ins in one parent app.
