FlashDroid Live Screen or Camera Won't Connect: What to Check
You tap Live Screen.
The parent app says it is connecting.
Then nothing happens.
This feature is different from looking at an old screenshot or location point.
FlashDroid's Live Screen and Live Camera are live streams.
That means the child phone must be available right now.
There is no stored recording to fall back to when the device is offline.
First check the child's connection
Live video requires more from the network than:
- receiving a rule
- sending a small alert
- updating a setting
Check on the child phone:
- Is Wi‑Fi or mobile data connected?
- Can a normal video or web page load?
- Is the signal extremely weak?
- Is Data Saver or an OEM network restriction affecting the app?
A phone that can occasionally send a tiny sync packet may still struggle to establish a live media session.
Wake the child phone during troubleshooting
For one diagnostic test:
- Turn the child screen on.
- Unlock it if appropriate.
- Confirm network connectivity.
- Confirm FlashDroid Kid is healthy.
- Start one live session from the parent.
If it works while the phone is active but fails after long idle periods, background availability is the area to investigate.
Check required permission and service health
Live safety tools depend on Android permissions and the child-side app state.
If a required permission was:
- revoked
- reset
- denied after an OS update
the session may not be able to start.
Check the child app's setup or health screen first.
Then verify Android app permissions.
Android allows permissions to be changed at any time, and unused-app optimisation can revoke permissions after long inactivity.

Battery restrictions can affect session startup
Android Doze and OEM battery systems can restrict background work when a device is idle.

If the symptom is:
“Live View only works after my child opens the phone”
use the background guide: why parental-control apps stop working in the background.
Then follow the exact brand guide:
Do not confuse “offline” with “failed”
If the child phone is:
- switched off
- in airplane mode
- without data
- temporarily unreachable
there is nothing to stream.
That is expected behaviour.
FlashDroid does not store live screen or camera recordings for later viewing.
When the phone becomes reachable again, start a new live session.
Camera access can fail even when Live Screen works
Android lets users disable camera access at the device level and manage app permissions.
If Live Camera is the only feature failing while Live Screen works:
- inspect camera permission
- inspect the device-level camera privacy toggle
- check whether another app is currently using the camera
- retry with the phone active
Do not change unrelated permissions.
Troubleshoot one live feature at a time
Live Screen fails, camera works
Focus on the screen-stream path and service state.
Camera fails, Live Screen works
Focus on camera permission and privacy state.
Both fail
Focus first on:
- connectivity
- child-side availability
- background service health
That narrows the problem quickly.
Try a controlled network test
If the issue is inconsistent:
- Put both phones on stable Wi‑Fi.
- Keep the child phone awake.
- Start Live Screen.
- End the session.
- Start Live Camera.
- Repeat once on mobile data if needed.
If Wi‑Fi works but mobile data does not, the problem is more likely connectivity than the FlashDroid rule itself.
If neither works while every permission is healthy, capture the exact error and device details for support.
FlashDroid's privacy boundary
Live Screen and Live Camera are intended for parent safety use with a visible child-side application.
They are:
- streamed live
- not stored as recordings
FlashDroid is a family app for parents of their own children, never hidden or concealed.
See the Android parental-controls guide.

Fast fix order
- Confirm child phone is powered on.
- Confirm stable internet.
- Wake and unlock for one diagnostic test.
- Check child app health.
- Check required permission.
- Check battery and background restrictions.
- Restart child device.
- Retry one live feature at a time.

Frequently asked questions
Why won't Live Screen connect?
The child phone must be online and the required child-side service and permissions must be healthy for a live stream to start.
Can I view a recording if the phone is offline?
No. FlashDroid live screen and camera are streamed live, not stored as recordings.
Does weak internet matter?
Yes. Live video needs more reliable connectivity than a simple command or text update.
Can battery restrictions affect live connection?
They can affect whether child-side services are available to receive and start a session.
Does FlashDroid secretly record live sessions?
No. Live screen and camera are streamed to the parent and are not stored as recordings.
